iPhone 15 Plus Review in 2025

What’s up, Guys! I’m back with another in-depth review. In today’s article we’re talking into a phone that’s been on the market for a while now, but still holds its own – the iPhone 15 Plus.  Now, I know what you’re thinking: “The iPhone 15 Plus? Dude, the 16 is out!”  And you’re absolutely right! But stick with me, because the 15 Plus is now in a very interesting position. It might not be the newest model, but it’s got style, performance, and a price tag that makes you go “Hmmmm…”

When Apple first announced the 14 series with 14 plus models, Apple decided to go big or go home with ditching the iPhone mini for the other extreme, a Plus-sized model. Then the iPhone 15 plus, this iPhone 15 plus was groundbreaking when it launched. It’s the first iPhone Plus to rock the Dynamic Island – remember when that was the hottest new thing?  First Plus with USB-C – hello, universal charging! And the first to boast a 48 MegaPixel main camera, giving you that sweet 2x in-sensor zoom – basically optical zoom without needing a dedicated telephoto lens!  It’s like having three cameras in two, paired with an ultrawide lens.  And let’s not forget that beastly battery life.  We’re going to break it all down, the good, the not-so-good, and everything in between. So, smash that like button, subscribe if you’re new, and let’s get into it!

Design

Let’s start with the first thing you see – the design.  Apple calls it “color-infused glass back.”  Sounds a bit like they’re brewing potions back there in Cupertino, doesn’t it?  But honestly, it’s a fancy way of saying the back glass has the color baked right in, and it looks good.  I remember unboxing this thing, and the color just popped. It’s a clean, minimalist design, very much in line with Apple’s aesthetic.  It’s funny, because sometimes I switch phones for review purposes, and I always come back to this feeling of understated elegance with the iPhone.  It’s not shouting for attention, it’s just… there, being classy. The aluminum frame feels premium too.  It’s a big phone, no denying that, but surprisingly, it doesn’t feel overly bulky in the hand.  They’ve managed to balance that large screen real estate with a comfortable feel.

Display

Now, the display. 6.7 inches of Super Retina XDR OLED goodness.  And yes, this is the first iPhone Plus to get the Dynamic Island! Remember all the buzz around that?  I remember watching the keynote when they announced it, and I was like, “Whoa, that’s actually pretty clever!”  And you know what? It still is. It’s super useful for controlling music, checking notifications, and all that daily digital juggling we do.  It’s seamless, intuitive, and just…cool.

But the Dynamic Island isn’t the only thing that makes this display shine. That 6.7-inch size is perfect for consuming media. Watching movies, gaming, editing videos – it’s immersive. I remember binge-watching a whole season of my favorite show on this phone, and I was completely sucked in. The colors are vibrant, the blacks are inky deep, and it gets bright enough to use even under direct sunlight.  Technically speaking, we’re talking about a Super Retina XDR display with HDR10 and Dolby Vision support.  That translates to stunning visuals with incredible dynamic range. In simpler terms, the picture quality is just chef’s kiss. No complaints.

Speaking of outdoors, I took this phone on a hike recently, and the display was just fantastic for taking photos and videos.  The colors were so true to life, it was like capturing the moment perfectly.  And the size was great for framing shots.  I’m no professional photographer, but even I managed to take some pretty impressive pics.

But I have something to consider and this is a big one for some – is the display.  It’s gorgeous, no doubt. But it’s only 60Hz.  Now, I know what some of you are thinking: “60Hz?  Seriously?”  And you’re right to be a little disappointed.  Most flagship phones these days have 120Hz displays, which make scrolling and animations look buttery smooth.  Going back to 60Hz can feel a little… sluggish. It’s like driving a car with regular suspension after you’ve been driving one with adaptive suspension. You’ll still get there but the journey feels a little bumpier.  It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s definitely something to consider.

So, the design and display on the iPhone 15 Plus are still top-notch (if you don’t care about 60hz). It’s a beautiful phone with a stunning screen that’s perfect for everything from casual browsing to serious content creation.  Stay tuned, because next up, we’re diving into the performance!

Performance

Let’s talk performance. Under the hood, we’ve got the A16 Bionic chip.  Yes, it’s the same chip that powered the iPhone 14 Pro series. And let me tell you, even in late 2025, this chip is still a powerhouse.  It handles everything you throw at it – demanding games, video editing, multitasking – no sweat.  Now, some of you might be thinking, “But, it doesn’t have Apple Intelligence!”  True.  The A16 doesn’t support Apple’s latest AI features.  Is that a deal-breaker? Honestly, for most people, probably not.  We’ll circle back to this later, but there are workarounds.

And here’s another thing:  while the A16 can handle most mobile games, it’s not quite the same as the A18 in the iPhone 16 Plus.  A16 chip can’t play triple A games like assassin creed mirage, If you are hardcore mobile gamer who needs the absolute best performance, the 16 Plus is going to be more your speed.

Camera

Camera time!  Even without a dedicated telephoto lens, the 48 MegaPixel main sensor is a star. That 2x in-sensor zoom is legit. It’s like having a third lens without the extra hardware.  Images are sharp, detailed, and the low-light performance is impressive.  The ultrawide lens is also solid, great for landscapes and group shots.  Is it the absolute best camera on the market? Maybe not. But it’s still incredibly competitive, even against newer Android flagships. For everyday casual photography, this camera system is more than enough.

But… again with the “but”!  There’s no telephoto lens.  For some people, that’s not a big deal.  But if you’re someone who likes to zoom in on distant objects, you’re going to miss it.  It’s like having a great camera, but you only have two lenses to choose from. You can take some amazing pictures, but you’re limited in what you can shoot.

Battery life

Battery life?  Oh boy, this is where the 15 Plus shines.  The large size of the phone allows for a massive battery.  You can easily get through a full day, even with heavy use.  Watching videos, playing games, browsing the web – this thing just keeps going.  If battery life is a priority for you, the 15 Plus is a winner.

Software and updates

Software-wise, the iPhone 15 Plus runs on the latest iOS 18.3. You get all the new customizations, security updates, and performance improvements. Now, about that Apple Intelligence thing…  Yeah, the 15 Plus doesn’t support it.  But honestly, in my testing, it doesn’t really affect daily use that much.  And here’s the kicker: you can easily install Gemini or ChatGPT, and boom! You’ve got a smart assistant that’s just as capable as the new Siri.  Problem solved.

Price

Now, the price. With the iPhone 16 Plus now out, the 15 Plus has gotten a price drop.  It’s become way more affordable.  You can save a significant chunk of change by going for the 15 Plus instead of the 16 Plus.  And honestly, unless you absolutely need Apple Intelligence, the 15 Plus offers incredible value for the money.

Verdict

So, is the iPhone 15 Plus still worth it at the end of 2025 and beyond?  My honest answer? Absolutely.  It’s got a beautiful display, powerful performance, a fantastic camera system, and insane battery life.  And now, with the price drop, it’s a steal.  If you’re okay with not having the latest AI features, the 15 Plus is a fantastic option.  It’s a flagship phone at a mid-range price.

Now, who is this phone for?  I’d say it’s perfect for anyone who wants a premium iPhone experience without breaking the bank.  Students, casual users, people who prioritize battery life – this phone is for you.

Ultimately, the decision is yours.  Do your research, compare prices, and see what fits your needs and budget. But in my opinion, the iPhone 15 Plus is still a great phone.
